Adventures to the Far East...
... Of Oz. Today Mars and I hit the beach once again (this coast gets over 320 days of sunshine per year... can you blame us??) We took some of our hostel's free boogie boards and surfed some of the big waves! A pic of us after taking a pretty good beating in the water... check out how gorgeous the beach is. The night before we had a few drinks with our fellow hostel dwellers... this is just ONE of the tables in the main area! We are in a room tomight, but sleeping in the lounge was actually pretty comfy (until we were rudely awakened by the 2 guys from London, ON, that worked in the hostel who kicked us out!).
Tonight we made the hike to the Cape Byron lighthouse... this is the Eastern most point of Australia. We made it just in time to see the end of a brilliant sunset. The views of Byron Bay are great from up there, however the huge owl/lizard/dinousaur/hawk mix of a bird we encountered hunting us in the pitch black was not! There are crazy animals everywhere here!
Tomorrow we are off to Surfers Paradise to check out yet another of Queensland's famous beaches. We are staying there for one night, then going to Noosa Heads for 3 days. We are staying with a guys that Wood lived with while there, and he has been nice enough to offer us his spare bedroom for the time we are in town, as well as show us around and give us some surf lessons! It will be nice to know a local in one of the cities (and if they are crazy enough to be friends with Wood, I know they will show us a good time! We may not make our flight on the 19th, but a good time will be had!)
Gotta run. Mars and I are off to a "Pimps and Hos" party across the street. We don't have outfits, so we are going as "Closet Hos" (we just don't show it on the outside!). Should be fun! Will post many more pics of the bridge climb, mountains, etc once I get back to my laptop, but for now hopefully the few pics I have managed to get up here will satisfy the fans (mostly just my mom..) that we are alive and having a blast.

Great photos. You two look so relaxed! Glad you survived your surfing debut! Surprised you didn't get bitten by that bird!! Have fun with the locals!
