Everything you'd want to see in Noosa... and one thing you don't!

Ah, the joys of working for yourself! Tom liked Noosa so much, he decided to stay an extra week! With the weather getting better and some surf coming back, we made the best use of that time. Noosa has a large National Park that starts just off the main street. We did a fantastic 2 hour hike around the coast line of the park, and got to see surfers off all of the points, a pod of about 8 dolphins off of the Hells Gate lookout, some beautiful forest and beaches.... including the one tiny stretch of beach in Alexandria Bay that was a nude beach! That beach is really long and only at the very end, where you have to cross to continue on the coastal path, is the nude section. We strolled past with our feet in the water and out of nowhere this fat old dude walked in front of us stark naked, then bent down to take off his sandals! EW!! haha... I thought Tom was going to die! The National Park walk finished at Sunshine Beach, where we went for a swim in some massive waves that threw us around like we were in a washing machine!
A Few days later, we returned to the Noosa River for some great tapas and a kayak ride. We took the double kayak all around the canals, looked at more beautiful waterfront houses, and even saw a guy and his dog on a stand-up paddle board. We also stopped in the very middle of the river to check out some giant pelicans. For reference purposes, where I am standing in this photo is very near where I beached our pontoon a few days back. Seriously... look how shallow it is and you can't even tell there is sand! I look like Jesus walking on water. The defence rests it's case for the poor boat driving :)
We also went to a neighbouring town to check out the famous Eumundi Markets. There are over 700 stalls set up in this market every Saturday... it was quite overwhelming! We made the most of it, especially the food stalls, where we sampled Mexican, Spanish, French, and Japanese cuisine!
And finally, after a few days of asking, I got Tom out on a surf board for the very first time. He was reluctant to try it because he thought he might like it too much and not want to leave... and he was right!! He stood up a wave after about 20 minutes of his first lesson, which was awesome! (to be fair, he had an excellent teacher!). Even though I've never seen a surfer with such a strange "super straight leg" technique, he picked it up very fast and was hooked, just like I was. We both took out boards the next 2 days and surfed some waves together. It was so much fun, and hearing Tom become a "wave expert"... "Oh, yeah, this one is going to break perfect", "Check out this set rolling in", "Oh, I wish I was surfing that wave".... in his English accent was hilarious. Check him out paddling for that big wave. I think he actually ate sh#t on this wave, but it's great pic!
So, anyone still wondering why Mars and I settled in Noosa?? If you are still unsure, ask Tom or Kristina, who both left us on Monday, very unhappily! Mars and I had a great time hosting both of them and we hope to see you both again soon somewhere on our next adventures....

  3. Well done Tom. Awesome pics you took Kim. Glad he was able to ride the waves. Sounds like he had a great time there- lots of sightseeing and adventures! He'll sure be bored back home in the Mother Country!
