Waldo's got nothing on us!

20 Flights + Over 65,000kms traveled by land/air/sea/donkey + 2 backpacks + About a million forms of medication = The trip of a lifetime!!

Mars and I are less than a week away from our amazing round-the-world trip, and we can't believe it's almost time to go! My last work shift is Friday, and I'll be having a few (!) drinks with friends on Saturday while Mars spends some time with Glen. Below is our itinerary and what we are hoping to see while we're there... we have jammed an insane amount of things in, just as we always do! If all goes well, we should be home just before Christmas... looking like hippie, dirty, starving backpackers! And thus begins our quest to find out which is more dangerous: An African Lion or an Egyptian cab driver?

NEW ZEALAND: June 23-July5
Tour the South Island by local bus, stay with friends of friends to avoid dorm costs, bungee jump!, tour the vast nothingness of the island, go cave exploring, stay at a beautiful B&B that mom's friend from Ryerson owns. It's our only winter destination... good thing we bought jackets from the Salvation Army for 50 cents each!! Seriously! Look for our not so stylish jackets in the NZ posts!
THAILAND: July 5-21st
Spend many days beach hopping all around the south beaches on our own, and we'll throw in a Full Moon Party appearance and a thai massage for good measure.
CAMBODIA & VIETNAM: July 21-Aug 7
Joining an Intrepid Travel tour group that came highly recommended from my friends Lucy and Alex. We'll explore the madness of Bangkok, the beautiful temples of Cambodia (including Angkor Wat), and check out the cities of Vietnam. I'm hoping that rumours are true and we can find a place in Vietnam where we can fire guns and throw live grenades... gotta love the less regulated countries! Our daily activities for the trip are at http://www.intrepidtravel.com/trips/KSK
WHERE EVER THE WIND TAKES US: Aug 7-16th
Once our tour is finished, we'll wander around on our way back to Cambodia. Hoping to check out Laos... stay tuned!
CAMBODIA: Aug 16-Sept 11
When we were backpacking in Oz, we met a lovely German girl who gave us info about an orphanage she just finished volunteering at in Phnom Penh... she said it was amazing and that they always need help. We'll be spending a month at that orphanage helping out in any capacity they need us in. Isn't it great how those things just work out so amazingly sometimes? The orphanage's website is here http://kkev-aachen.de/component/option,com_frontpage/Itemid,1/lang,en/ We don't have any idea what to expect, but hope we can make a difference!
CHINA: Sept 11-26th
Yes, we are flying on September 11th... yikes! Jumping on another tour so that we can see the most of China we possibly can in 3 weeks, including the Great Wall, terracotta warriors, the famous silk market, and the crazy pace of Chinese life. As Lucy (my friend from the Peru trip) told me about her time in China "The Chinese are all barking mad!" haha... can't wait!! Pheebs - I'll tell your people you said hi! Tour daily breakdown is here in case you want to follow along. http://www.intrepidtravel.com/trips/CSC
INDIA: Sept 26-Oct 21st
Some time on our own in Delhi, then joining another tour that will again get us to see as much as we can in a short time (I know I'm "The Guidebook", but it's so much easier to see it all when someone else is booking your accommodation! And also, it helps our moms sleep better at night!) We'll see the Taj Mahal, try to bargain for bangles with the locals, and see the holy city of Varanasi. Trip deets here http://www.intrepidtravel.com/trips/HRR Funny story about India... when you apply for a tourist visa as a woman, you have to list either your father or your husband's details!! Alas, this is why we travel... to experience other cultures :)
EGYPT: Oct 21 - Nov 5th
I am excited about all of the places we're visiting, but the pyramids are on my list of things to see before I die, so I CAN'T WAIT! We have yet to meet anyone who hasn't been sick from their visit to Egypt, but it won't deter us! (As aforementioned, I'm armed with lots of meds, as per my "Dave Training!"). We'll cruise down the Nile, see the pyramids, Sphinx, and hopfully ride a camel (I'm sure mine will be the most unruly!). Upon the advice of many that say Egypt isn't the best place for 2 girls alone, we'll hop onto another tour! http://www.intrepidtravel.com/trips/ERA
AFRICA: Nov 5-Dec 21st
Will be living one of my dream travel destinations.... a true African safari! Yes, if I see a cute little lion, I will try to pat it and likely get my arm bit off. We are going to be traveling for 43 days on an overland camping truck. We'll see the Serengeti, the big game parks, the Ngorongoro Crater (a perfect eco system - the animals can't get out!), Mt. Kilimanjaro (will have to come back another time to climb it!), and so much more! The overland trek details are here: http://www.acacia-africa.com/HolidayDetails.aspx?tc=KTC43&productID=1
CANADA: Dec 22
If all goes according to plan (which it rarely does for me!) we'll be home for Christmas, and I will have been to every continent (except Antarctica) before my 28th birthday!

For those of you who have actually made it all the way to the end of this post (i.e. mom and auntie!)... thank you for your continued support of our travels!! We may not always be able to write long emails or blog posts, but please try to send us lots of emails or post comments... it's always nice to hear what is going on at home.... where we'll end up before we know it! Time flies when you're living a dream!
