Smelling disgusting and still frozen, we hopped on yet another bus headed to Nelson. (Have just posted 2 funny blogs below, so scroll down if you have time!) On the way, we stopped at Punakaki National Park where we saw these amazingly strange and stunning rock formations call

ed the pancake rocks. NZ is packed with so many unreal images! We arrived in Nelson, where one of mom's friends from High School.... um, I mean Rye-High, um I mean Ryerson University, picked us up for our 2 night stay in her wonderful and luxurious bed and breakfast. Thanks mommy for footing the bill for this one!! We started the day with a

glorious home cooked breakfast of fresh fruit, juice, tea, and eggs benny made by our B&B host Janet. Then we hiked to the top of a cliff and found ourselves directly at the geographical middle of NZ. Neat-o! After that, we wandered around the town for a bit, mailed some postcards from one of the first post boxes in NZ, and sadly mailed home our Uggs. Then we met up with our fellow Canadian B&B resident, Ann Murray (not the singer... but this one has met Mother Theresa!) and went to visit the World of WearableArt (WOW) Museum. I ha

ve been to many a museum on my travels and this one was my favourite by far! (sorry, Louvre). The most amazing works of art for the body were on display, as well as a movie reel that showed the garments being modeled at the annual WOW awards show. Stunning and so visually arresting!! Even our Kiwi/Canadian hosts got in on the action a few years ago, submitting a piece of wearable art for the "Bizarre Bra" section... the bra with an Indian in an Ontario birch bark canoe on one boob and a French Canadian in a canoe peeking at the other boob got them accepted into the show! I could have spent hours there...! This was the only one I could take a picture of, but some of the creations up close were so intricate and creative it probably wouldn't have translated well in a picture anyway.
Tomorrow, we have one more home cooked breakfast to look forward to, then one more night in Christchurch, then a boring day in the Brisbane airport, then off to the beautiful and WARM beaches of Thailand!!! Stay tuned!
Wow - can't believe how much you two see and do in such a short time.Fun to read about all the characters you meet along the way. Bet you were glad to get rid of the uggs and on to sunny - and very humid - weather. Thanks for the call to say you got to Thailand OK - keep us posted and CALL. Hope you get to link up with my Sylvia while you are there.
